The Sweetest Dinner : Jubilare Dine and Wine

I rarely go to Sukajadi or Setiabudi area since it’s pretty far from where I live. I mean, not that kind of far that will takes more than an hour to drive, but, it’s far for me since I have no private car here (and even if I do, I can’t drive) and I have to take a public transportation instead. So when Fred came by last weekend, I took advantage of him. I mean, of his car. I ask him to take me to Setiabudi Supermarket so I could FINALLY get my sea salt, yay! Going to make some more pretzels later.

But anyway…

Sukajadi and Setiabudi areas are quite popular among Jakartans. There are malls and dozen of restaurants, which later I found to be the main thing that attracts people to keep going there.

Jubilare Wine and Dine is one of them. We found in Tripadvisor that Jubilare is the #1 Restaurant in BandungThat is exactly what makes Fred don’t feel like he want to miss it this time. After spending our afternoon at Lembang, we went hungry like crazy and decided to check Jubilare out. Well, it was all Fred’s idea. He even planned it before he reached Bandung.

Taste of Bali : Nasi Ayam Bali

Remember about the idea of me exploring more Indonesian local foods and write a series of blog post about Taste of Indonesia? Well, the first one went really well nearly a month ago. I wrote about BPK, the famous Karo-styled roast pig from North Sumatra, Indonesia. And everyone was like : “Look at that! You make me hungry.” or “God! It does look really good. It’s been ages since the last time I had BPK”. Well, you know, things like that.

The Cafe at The Mulia, Bali

You’ll never go hungry in Bali, that much is certain! There are a lot of foods offered from traditional Balinese foods just anywhere down the streets to an international fine dining at a hotel. This island of gods does has a huge range of choices from cafes, restaurant, street foods, bakeries, to local places to eat. That’s one of the reason I keep coming back to Bali. I just can’t refuse the foods and the hospitality it offers.

Taste of North Sumatra : BPK

I once tweeted about the idea of me exploring Indonesian local foods more and share it on my blog. I also am dreaming about writing a book : Taste of Indonesia. Then one of my friend did response to my tweet and he said that Babi Panggang Karo (Karo-styled Roast Pig or people simply call it BPK) should be on my list. I was like… what the hell? WHAT IS THAT?

Well, lucky me, just a week later, my another friend who happened to be a Karonese ask me to go out for some BPK. I was like : “Yay! I can’t wait any longer!

Bandung Legendary Eatery : Toko You

Weeks ago, I got a recommendation from Bayu Amus about some famous Bandung culinary destinations from fancy cafe to legendary diner. Toko You happened to be one of them. Many other food bloggers also recommend this place for me. In fact, they’re quite surprised I know nothing about Toko You before.

I was like, how could I not notice this place before? It’s been there since the 80s! Well, blame it on their restaurant sign – THERE ARE NO SIGN AT ALL! And what I mean by ‘no sign’ is really.. nothing. Not even a small board written Toko You.

Bandung Street Food : Sate Maulana Yusuf

You know what? Bandung is quite popular for its large variety of foods. I guess that’s the reason people keep coming back to Bandung on weekend – besides the perfect weather. It’s well known for its outdoor fine dining due to its pleasant climate in the noon. And also, for its street foods.

I’m soooo glad I got a chance to attend a university in Bandung. It’s like opening a chance for me to explore the city even more! So I guess moving out to Bandung has made me who I am today. A girl who loves traveling and taking pictures, well yeah, and eating. I wrote about Bandung in One Day days ago, and I’m thinking about writing another one.

Bandung in One Day

It’s funny when I realize that I barely write things about the town I’ve been living like for 3 years. I mean, Bandung is amazing. It’s one of the most popular tourist site in West Java, Indonesia. And I’ve been to a lot of interesting places. How come I didn’t write anything about it?

Well, the thing is… when I live here, I don’t feel like I’m currently travelling. I mean, I feel like I just simply living my normal university life.

Origin House and Kitchen

Last Friday, Fred came by for a short visit. The only reason he did was only because of the so called Braga Festival 2013, I guess. But then… since the festival itself is a bit disappointing, we decided to give our selves a nice dinner.

I’ve heard so many people mentioning Origin House and Kitchen as one of the must-visit bistro in Bandung. They all were like : “You should go! It has a great ambiance and good food too!” or “What? You never went to Origin before? You must be kidding. It’s one of my favorite.

They somehow took the curiosity out of me, in so many ways. And so we went.
