Bandung Street Food : Sate Maulana Yusuf

Sate Maulana Yusuf

You know what? Bandung is quite popular for its large variety of foods. I guess that’s the reason people keep coming back to Bandung on weekend – besides the perfect weather. It’s well known for its outdoor fine dining due to its pleasant climate in the noon. And also, for its street foods.

I’m soooo glad I got a chance to attend a university in Bandung. It’s like opening a chance for me to explore the city even more! So I guess moving out to Bandung has made me who I am today. A girl who loves traveling and taking pictures, well yeah, and eating. I wrote about Bandung in One Day days ago, and I’m thinking about writing another one.

But anyway, Sate Maulana Yusuf is one of the most popular among any other street foods in Bandung. It’s been there since the 80s. And the old people say, the taste stays the same as it was.

Although I’ve been living in Bandung for about 3 years, I’ve never tried this satay before. Not until my lecturer mentioned this satay at class. I don’t even remember how she brought this conversation up. It just happened. And I’m glad for it! I finally tried out this legendary satay! And I understand exactly what everyone is talking about.

For those who might not familiar with satay, it is actually some kind of chopped grilled meat served with seasonings and peanut sauce. You can easily find it almost anywhere in Indonesia since it’s second of the most popular Indonesian food after Indonesian Nasi Goreng.

I had a plate of Beef Satay (10 sticks). They also sells chicken and lamb satay. It comes out with a plate of peanut sauce and a plate of pickles (yuck!). I always hate pickles. Especially when it comes in the middle of burger. I was like… why are you here?? It just…. does not match each other really well – for me.

But anyway, the beef meat is so tender, and juicy, and huge! I mean, for a satay size, it is huge. And the best thing is… the soy sauce absorbed perfectly.

There are actually many other foods offered, like beef gulai (similar to beef curry), oxtail soup, gado-gado (Indonesian salad), and the list goes one. My next target would be Beef Gulai!

Nom nom nom. I’m looking forward to my lunch time! :9

Aku suka sate yg gak terlalu fatty n gak terlalu lean, biasanya pilih boneless chicken leg drpd daging dada…..

    1. Sharon Loh berkata:

Hihi aku suka ymalah kurang suka chicken, mas kalo untuk sate. Tapi kalo yg leg masih suka sih. Kalo dada ga suka, terlalu berserat gitu ya :p

Apalagi kalo bawang merahnya banyak :9 Nyam.
