Bo Shin Myeong Ga Korean Restaurant, Jakarta

Not familiar with Korean food? Well, me too! Actually, I’m not familiar with anything Korean-related. Not even K-pop or K-drama or whatever. I’ve been looking at my friends’ picture on Instagram, and many of them uploaded pictures of them eating Korean food. I was like : “what does it taste like? spicy? salty?” I have no idea.

Fred took me to Bo Shin Myeong Ga just when my curiosity grows even stronger. It’s an authentic Korean restaurant in South Jakarta.

Dusun Bambu, Bandung

Living in a town with as many dining options as Bandung makes it impossible for me to keep up with what’s hip and happening. You know, Bandung’s culinary business is constantly growing as new restaurants come and go. Some make a huge success, some are not lucky enough.

This year, DUSUN BAMBU made it to the most talked about place in Bandung. It’s like, everyone is going to there. I saw my friends pictures on Instagram, Facebook, and even Path. Some of them even came from Jakarta. And then I was like : “Why is everyone going? What’s in there?

Chye Seng Huat Hardware, Singapore – Not Your Ordinary Coffee Shop

aporeBest coffee in Singapore? So they said. People started to brag about how great the coffee is, how unusual the place is. And those things just grew my curiosity even stronger.

I know.. I know… Chye Seng Huat Hardware (CSHH) doesn’t sound like a cool place to hangout. And believe me, it does indeed look like an old hardware store from outside. How could people notice there’s good coffee inside? I wonder.

The Sweetest Dinner : Jubilare Dine and Wine

I rarely go to Sukajadi or Setiabudi area since it’s pretty far from where I live. I mean, not that kind of far that will takes more than an hour to drive, but, it’s far for me since I have no private car here (and even if I do, I can’t drive) and I have to take a public transportation instead. So when Fred came by last weekend, I took advantage of him. I mean, of his car. I ask him to take me to Setiabudi Supermarket so I could FINALLY get my sea salt, yay! Going to make some more pretzels later.

But anyway…

Sukajadi and Setiabudi areas are quite popular among Jakartans. There are malls and dozen of restaurants, which later I found to be the main thing that attracts people to keep going there.

Jubilare Wine and Dine is one of them. We found in Tripadvisor that Jubilare is the #1 Restaurant in BandungThat is exactly what makes Fred don’t feel like he want to miss it this time. After spending our afternoon at Lembang, we went hungry like crazy and decided to check Jubilare out. Well, it was all Fred’s idea. He even planned it before he reached Bandung.

Taste of Bali : Nasi Ayam Bali

Remember about the idea of me exploring more Indonesian local foods and write a series of blog post about Taste of Indonesia? Well, the first one went really well nearly a month ago. I wrote about BPK, the famous Karo-styled roast pig from North Sumatra, Indonesia. And everyone was like : “Look at that! You make me hungry.” or “God! It does look really good. It’s been ages since the last time I had BPK”. Well, you know, things like that.

Revolver Espresso at Seminyak Bali

Revolver Espresso came across our little chit chat during our lunch at The Cafe at The Mulia, Bali. Diana mentioned it as the most popular coffee joint in Bali at the moment.

Since I don’t feel like I want to miss this famous coffee during my trip, Gaby and I went there for a brunch on Monday morning. Besides, the breakfast my hotel served was really awful. Even their coffee doesn’t taste like what coffee should be. So I decided to skip my breakfast at the hotel and went for a decent brunch instead.

The Cafe at The Mulia, Bali

You’ll never go hungry in Bali, that much is certain! There are a lot of foods offered from traditional Balinese foods just anywhere down the streets to an international fine dining at a hotel. This island of gods does has a huge range of choices from cafes, restaurant, street foods, bakeries, to local places to eat. That’s one of the reason I keep coming back to Bali. I just can’t refuse the foods and the hospitality it offers.

Taste of North Sumatra : BPK

I once tweeted about the idea of me exploring Indonesian local foods more and share it on my blog. I also am dreaming about writing a book : Taste of Indonesia. Then one of my friend did response to my tweet and he said that Babi Panggang Karo (Karo-styled Roast Pig or people simply call it BPK) should be on my list. I was like… what the hell? WHAT IS THAT?

Well, lucky me, just a week later, my another friend who happened to be a Karonese ask me to go out for some BPK. I was like : “Yay! I can’t wait any longer!
