Origin House and Kitchen

Last Friday, Fred came by for a short visit. The only reason he did was only because of the so called Braga Festival 2013, I guess. But then… since the festival itself is a bit disappointing, we decided to give our selves a nice dinner.

I’ve heard so many people mentioning Origin House and Kitchen as one of the must-visit bistro in Bandung. They all were like : “You should go! It has a great ambiance and good food too!” or “What? You never went to Origin before? You must be kidding. It’s one of my favorite.

They somehow took the curiosity out of me, in so many ways. And so we went.

Mini Travel Guide : Bali, Indonesia

HOLA!

I know summer is coming to an end, real quick. People are starting to wear sweater and boots here. And although the sun still shines so bright in the morning,  the rain always seems to pour at noon.

And… before these precious memories of mine lost forgotten, I want to share a summary, I guess, of my favorite place, my favorite foods, and the activities I used to have last summer. This is just another informal mini travel guide about Bali which you can easily find in the internet. But mine is a lil bit personal. You know, I’m not a travel-expert. Not even closed to be one. I don’t get to explore every inches of Bali.  That’s obvious. I just happened to live there, enjoying the island the way I like.

Here’s the story.

Last summer, Fred & I spent our 2 months internship in Bali. And during our way back to Bandung, we stopped by Batu city and thought it would be great to explore Batu a lil bit more since the city looks so interesting.

So, here I am, picking out the highlights of Batu city and sharing them to you guys. I hope this travel guide helps you.

Batu Secret Zoo – Best Zoo in Indonesia!

As I promised earlier on my post about Museum Satwa, I’m gonna write a brief review about what it is inside Batu Secret Zoo.

So.. Batu Secret Zoo is actually located in the same area with Museum Satwa, which is Jawa Timur Park 2 in Batu, Malang. It’s probably one of the biggest recreation park in Indonesia! There are museum (Museum Satwa / Museum of Wildlife), zoo (Batu Secret Zoo), hotel (Pohon Inn) and Eco Park. And believe me, all of them are interesting! If you happen to visit Batu, you should (or you’ll regret later) spend a day in Jawa Timur Park 2.

A Day at the Wildlife Museum! – Museum Satwa, Batu

You know what? I am a fans of Dinosaurs – not a fanatic one, although I don’t remember each of it. But by watching their movies, their fossils, make me feel so… amazed. As a child, I often caught my self wondering and imagining that I’m living in a world where dinosaurs are still alive. Well, that’s probably why I got too excited when we visit Jin Shan Park in Bejing where the Dinosaurs Exhibition was being held.

Then, years ago, one of my friends from college told me about Jawa Timur Park 2 in Batu, Malang, Indonesia. It’s a huge recreation park which has a Museum (Museum Satwa / Museum of Wildlife), a Zoo (Batu Secret Zoo), a hotel (Pohon Inn) and Eco Park.

Catching Sunrise at Mount Bromo

In the mid of August, Fred, Cindy and I went for our first hiking at Mount Bromo, East Java, Indonesia. Mount Bromo is quite popular among tourists both local and foreigner for its ‘easy’ hiking track. The highlights of the area are Mount Bromo (with its smoking crater), Mount Penanjakan (the favorite sunrise spot), and Cemoro Lawang (where most visitors stay). There’s also Mount Semeru, the highest mountain in Java. Locals say, it took 2 days straight to hike Mount Semeru. It will never be on my list!

WAHAHA Pork Ribs, Another Good Pork Ribs in Bali

I’m a big fans of pork ribs!!! The grilled one, to be exact.

Since we moved out to Bali last June, we’ve been hunting pork ribs several times, from Naughty Nuris in Kerobokan, Naughty Nuris in Ubud, Cafe Wayan in Ubud, until Bale Bali in Seminyak – the one I dislike the most.
