WAHAHA Pork Ribs, Another Good Pork Ribs in Bali

I’m a big fans of pork ribs!!! The grilled one, to be exact.

Since we moved out to Bali last June, we’ve been hunting pork ribs several times, from Naughty Nuris in Kerobokan, Naughty Nuris in Ubud, Cafe Wayan in Ubud, until Bale Bali in Seminyak – the one I dislike the most.

So last day, my friend Gaby, recommended this restaurant as her mother prefers Wahaha pork ribs better than the one in Naughty Nuri’s. As we got curious of what it may tasted like, we decided to check Wahaha Pork Ribs out yesterday.

The Venue

I was quite impressed by the interior of the restaurant. Unlike Naughty Nuri’s – which look a lot more like a ‘Warung‘ than a restaurant, Wahaha Pork Ribs actually has a great indoor and outdoor seats! The garden’s beautifully decorated by colorful lanterns and candles. And I found it so comfortable to sit outdoor. No mosquitoes detected 😉

But still, the garden area is my favorite spot. There are trees, tables, lanterns, and candles out there. Just perfect for a not-so-romantic dinner!

The Parking Lot

Don’t worry about the parking lot, Wahaha Pork Ribs do provide a pretty large parking lot for those who bring out their vehicle. And it’s free of charge too.

The Food

And here comes the main part of the post. The food.

We had Wahaha Pork Ribs, Crispy Ribs, and Bintang Beer that night.

The pork ribs was sweet and tender. What I found that it was not as juicy as the one in Naughty Nuri’s. And not that tender too. But still it’s much more savory than the one in Bale Bali. Wahaha pork ribs was served with french fries (or rice), coleslaw, and one onion ring. I thought this one-onion-ring part was some kind of joke Wahaha made. Who’s with me?

And here comes the Crispy Ribs.

To be very honest, I don’t like the crispy ribs that much. I mean, it’s actually some bites of pork marinated with some kind of seasoning, deep fried, and then glazed with some kind of sweet sauce. But I found it hard to bite and not too crispy. It is over fried.

Anyway, about the drink. I don’t know why but pork ribs always comes together with beer, like they never go wrong. We chose Bintang Beer, as it’s quite popular among locals and foreigners and we found that we like Bintang better than any other kind of beer. At least for now.

Compare to Naughty Nuri’s?

Well, to be honest, I like Naughty Nuri’s better. The pork ribs they offer was more tender, more juicy, and it was marinated better too. I mean, the meat absorbs the seasoning much better. So… I prefer Naughty Nuri’s.

But Wahaha Pork Ribs got a better venue and atmosphere. Ah this confuse me.
