Chye Seng Huat Hardware, Singapore – Not Your Ordinary Coffee Shop

aporeBest coffee in Singapore? So they said. People started to brag about how great the coffee is, how unusual the place is. And those things just grew my curiosity even stronger.

I know.. I know… Chye Seng Huat Hardware (CSHH) doesn’t sound like a cool place to hangout. And believe me, it does indeed look like an old hardware store from outside. How could people notice there’s good coffee inside? I wonder.

Signature Cruise at Ha Long Bay

I’ve never imagined myself to be on a cruise. The only place I knew people usually do cruising is in Caribbean – which I believe is quite far from here. I was kinda surprise they have it here in South East Asia! Yes, we did our first cruise at Ha Long Bay, Vietnam. It’s around 3 hours drive from Hanoi – the capital city of Vietnam.

We booked a 2D1N cruise at Signature Cruise. Well, Fred did it. He took care of all of our tickets, hotels, and many other things. He’s also the one who read the map while we’re walking exploring the city (Hanoi and Saigon). All I’ve got to do is wear my jacket and my shoes since it’s slightly cold there in January. Then I’m ready to go.

Revolver Espresso at Seminyak Bali

Revolver Espresso came across our little chit chat during our lunch at The Cafe at The Mulia, Bali. Diana mentioned it as the most popular coffee joint in Bali at the moment.

Since I don’t feel like I want to miss this famous coffee during my trip, Gaby and I went there for a brunch on Monday morning. Besides, the breakfast my hotel served was really awful. Even their coffee doesn’t taste like what coffee should be. So I decided to skip my breakfast at the hotel and went for a decent brunch instead.

The Cafe at The Mulia, Bali

You’ll never go hungry in Bali, that much is certain! There are a lot of foods offered from traditional Balinese foods just anywhere down the streets to an international fine dining at a hotel. This island of gods does has a huge range of choices from cafes, restaurant, street foods, bakeries, to local places to eat. That’s one of the reason I keep coming back to Bali. I just can’t refuse the foods and the hospitality it offers.

Bandung Breakfast : Roti Gempol

One of my friend once asked : “Did you ever went to a restaurant, or a diner you’ve been willing to go for such a long time and then you’ll find the food to be disappointing?

Of course I did! From an expensive stuffed chicken breast in Kayu Manis (listed to be #1 restaurant in Sanur, Bali) to a cheap Takoyaki I found beside a bookstore in Bandung. They’re all terrible. I just didn’t seem to have a mood to write ’em up in my blog. Ugh. Remembering those foods really annoys me. But I think I’ll start writing my bad experience up as well so there will be less people misguided, like me.

Bandung in One Day

It’s funny when I realize that I barely write things about the town I’ve been living like for 3 years. I mean, Bandung is amazing. It’s one of the most popular tourist site in West Java, Indonesia. And I’ve been to a lot of interesting places. How come I didn’t write anything about it?

Well, the thing is… when I live here, I don’t feel like I’m currently travelling. I mean, I feel like I just simply living my normal university life.

Origin House and Kitchen

Last Friday, Fred came by for a short visit. The only reason he did was only because of the so called Braga Festival 2013, I guess. But then… since the festival itself is a bit disappointing, we decided to give our selves a nice dinner.

I’ve heard so many people mentioning Origin House and Kitchen as one of the must-visit bistro in Bandung. They all were like : “You should go! It has a great ambiance and good food too!” or “What? You never went to Origin before? You must be kidding. It’s one of my favorite.

They somehow took the curiosity out of me, in so many ways. And so we went.

Mini Travel Guide : Bali, Indonesia

HOLA!

I know summer is coming to an end, real quick. People are starting to wear sweater and boots here. And although the sun still shines so bright in the morning,  the rain always seems to pour at noon.

And… before these precious memories of mine lost forgotten, I want to share a summary, I guess, of my favorite place, my favorite foods, and the activities I used to have last summer. This is just another informal mini travel guide about Bali which you can easily find in the internet. But mine is a lil bit personal. You know, I’m not a travel-expert. Not even closed to be one. I don’t get to explore every inches of Bali.  That’s obvious. I just happened to live there, enjoying the island the way I like.
