A Day Well Spent – Hakone Area, Japan

Remember about my last trip in downtown Tokyo a month ago? Well, aside from the busy & crowded Tokyo, now we’re heading southwest to an area called Hakone

Imagine this : a blue sky, a lake with Mt. Fuji at the backgrounda red shrine gate, and of course, the mountainous scenes. That what makes Hakone area one of the most popular resorts in Japan, I think.

La Creamy, Bandung

You know that moment, when you feel terribly hungry but also too lazy to get out of bed at the same time? Of course you do.

Well, mine happens quite often lately. The last one was last Monday and I didn’t have a morning class to go. So… I don’t know why but somehow I managed not to take a bath until 11 am and this guy named Kiki from La Creamy came over my house and brought me this cute little sampler. Thank you!

The Unique Side of Japan

Being able to live in Japan for 2 weeks was like a dream come true to me. Well, not really a dream actually since I’ve never dreaming about going to Japan. It’s more like an… unexpected gift. I’ve never imagined myself to go to Japan since it’s known for the high prices. You know, the high living cost, the high food price, and the lists go on and on.

But then, I was lucky enough to be one of the participants of AIMS Short Stay Program 2014 in TUAT (Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology / Nokodai) Japan. Domo arigato gozaimasu for the chance!

One Day in Tokyo

Last month, I got a surprising news from my university. Guess what? I got accepted as an exchange student in TUAT Japan for 2 weeks together with another 3 students from my university (Hilfi Amri, Irfan Nurhadi, and Muhammad Alifa Farhan).

Short story, we had a free time last Sunday. And since Amri decided to go out with the other friends, Irfan, Alif, and I went out on our own. We went to Harajuku, Shibuya, Asakusa, and Akihabara in one day.

Signature Cruise at Ha Long Bay

I’ve never imagined myself to be on a cruise. The only place I knew people usually do cruising is in Caribbean – which I believe is quite far from here. I was kinda surprise they have it here in South East Asia! Yes, we did our first cruise at Ha Long Bay, Vietnam. It’s around 3 hours drive from Hanoi – the capital city of Vietnam.

We booked a 2D1N cruise at Signature Cruise. Well, Fred did it. He took care of all of our tickets, hotels, and many other things. He’s also the one who read the map while we’re walking exploring the city (Hanoi and Saigon). All I’ve got to do is wear my jacket and my shoes since it’s slightly cold there in January. Then I’m ready to go.

The Sweetest Dinner : Jubilare Dine and Wine

I rarely go to Sukajadi or Setiabudi area since it’s pretty far from where I live. I mean, not that kind of far that will takes more than an hour to drive, but, it’s far for me since I have no private car here (and even if I do, I can’t drive) and I have to take a public transportation instead. So when Fred came by last weekend, I took advantage of him. I mean, of his car. I ask him to take me to Setiabudi Supermarket so I could FINALLY get my sea salt, yay! Going to make some more pretzels later.

But anyway…

Sukajadi and Setiabudi areas are quite popular among Jakartans. There are malls and dozen of restaurants, which later I found to be the main thing that attracts people to keep going there.

Jubilare Wine and Dine is one of them. We found in Tripadvisor that Jubilare is the #1 Restaurant in BandungThat is exactly what makes Fred don’t feel like he want to miss it this time. After spending our afternoon at Lembang, we went hungry like crazy and decided to check Jubilare out. Well, it was all Fred’s idea. He even planned it before he reached Bandung.

Refreshing Afternoon at Lembang Highland

Just exactly last weekend, Fred came by for a short visit. It’s been more than a month (or two?) since we last met. And the fact that he made a plan to visit me last weekend really excites me! There are actually so many places I’m planning to go – mostly are restaurants I never had a chance to visit. But turned out, we visited none of them. We picked random places which is not on my list and all of them turns out to be surprising.

Taste of Bali : Nasi Ayam Bali

Remember about the idea of me exploring more Indonesian local foods and write a series of blog post about Taste of Indonesia? Well, the first one went really well nearly a month ago. I wrote about BPK, the famous Karo-styled roast pig from North Sumatra, Indonesia. And everyone was like : “Look at that! You make me hungry.” or “God! It does look really good. It’s been ages since the last time I had BPK”. Well, you know, things like that.
