You know that moment when you live in a highland area and missing the view and the feel of summer at the exotic island? That’s exactly what I’ve been feeling recently! I can’t believe it’s been over a year since my stay in Bali last year and how I MISS IT SO MUCH until just last weekend, I went to Sheraton Hotel & Towers Bandung for a lunch.
I thought it’s just another luxurious 5-star hotel with a high building, clean neat comfy rooms and spacious lobby with sparkling lighting, because you know, from outside, the hotel look just like a normal building. I mean, it’s white building, with some fountains and green freshly cut grass around the path way. But turned out, I was wrong!
Once you get in, you’ll find a lobby with fresh and vibrant color all over the room. What I like the most from the lobby is the ocean blue sparkling lighting they have on the ceiling. It really lights up the whole room in a different way. Fabulous!
Then, if you walk further to the middle of the hotel, there’s a pool area which really make you feel like you’re not in Bandung. It feels like Bali, I should say.
I felt like I want to take a dip with a cocktail in hand. Do you?
Anyway, there are 2 parts of the hotel : the Main Building and the Towers which is more luxurious.
The Tower is dominated with gold and black color, which makes it feel more elegant and romantic. It’s decorated with a very artistic lamp and chimney fireplace which brings warm kind of sense to the whole room.
Feast Restaurant
Then, there’s this restaurant named Feast Restaurant at Sheraton Bandung offering lunch buffet for IDR 150k++. And on Sunday, there’s this so called Sunday Brunch which is basically the same thing but it’s included a free swimming tix! FYI, the swimming tix itself costs IDR 100k, so Sunday Brunch is a great deal I could say.
So that’s where I ended up that day, after walking around marveling at how great the hotel is. Yes, the restaurant. You know me.
The food here is ranging from Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese, to Western food. There are some stations : the appetizer station, the main course station, the drink station, the BBQ station, and my favorite one, the dessert station!
To start with, I had a cup of Bandrekcinno which is basically the Indonesian Sundanese drinks Bandrek but it’s foamy on top which make it looks like cappuccino. Bandrek is usually made of ginger, palm sugar, and cinnamon. Sometimes, people add milk to the mixture to make it lighter and sweeter.
This Bandrekcinno I had here at Sheraton Bandung was clearly way lighter than the one I had somewhere else on the street. And also prettier, indeed.
Then, I opted for Miso Soup as an appetizer. It’s served with some Soba, tofu, and many other complements. Smells and tasted so… so… good that I think I’m gonna have another bowl until I realize there are still a lot of food I haven’t tried yet.
So, I then took some Lamb and ask the chef to cook it medium-well, since this one is medium. But then my meat was not tender enough and very hard to chew. So I think you better eat it that way without any extra cooking 😉
Then, he glazed my lamb with mushroom sauce which I found tasted much like a BBQ sauce.
Then there’s this noodle which was hand-made by the chef on duty.
Then we have to choose the toppings and also the soup. And tada~ Your noodle’s ready!
One of the highlight of the meals was this Gado Gado. Or karedok? I can’t tell the difference. But it’s basically veggies with peanut sauce all over and some crackers to eat with. Some say it’s Indonesian Salad, to make it easier (and fancier). This one was sooooooo good. I used to have Gado Gado with a runny kind of sauce. But this one is so thick and creamy. And you can really taste the peanut without it dominating the whole flavor. And uhm, this one is spicy too.
To put my greediness of taking too much food to an end, I had some cake and also ice cream.
I had some amount of almond slices on top of my ice cream. Yum! So refreshing!
Tropical fruits in a tropical country? Who can resist these freshly-cut fruits?
All of these sweets definitely stop me from eating anything savory. So yeay, it works!
~
A great lunch with a nice pool view. Thanks for having me, Sheraton Bandung! It was a really nice short escape from the busy city. Wish I could stay just a bit longer!
