After spending like an hour of cycling in Sanur Beach, Bali, Fred & I accidentally found this beach market event in Tandjung Sari Hotel, Sanur, Bali. The atmosphere at the event was so lively pleasing! There are street lights, some traditional food carts, and the most important thing, live music!
This once-in-a-while event was called Weekend Beach Market and was held by Tandjung Sari Hotel, Bali. There are so many food stalls, each selling Satay, Nasi Kuning, Nasi Padang, Nasi Uduk, Wine (Bottle and Glass), Fruit juice, some Indonesian Snacks, Mie Bakso, and many more – mostly Indonesian food. Each main course meal was charged Rp 50,000 and snacks for Rp 30,000. Wine was charged Rp 60,000 / glass or Rp 250,000 / bottle.
It’s not the food that we were happy about. It’s the place. The venue. The atmosphere. The breeze. The music. The people..
We were warmly greeted by the lovely staff by the time we arrived and got a brief explanation about the Weekend Beach Market itself. The idea is simply to introduce Indonesian foods and Indonesian music style to the foreigners. And then he offered us to sit by the beach. Perfect place!
I also found this group of Keroncong which can play any kind of song you request. Interesting, huh? The young lady even asked us several questions like where I came from, and why I was there because she found that we’re the youngest visitor that night. And since she knew that I came from Jambi, she together along with the music instrument player played us a well-known traditional song from Jambi. Isn’t she lovely?
We found the foods they offer were just okay. I mean, we could have a much better food out there in the street. But the best thing about this place is… the place. (What am I talking?)
I feel so happy here.. I’m sure you’ll feel the same way.

Anyway, we did notice a western man with his 2 young boys that night. He was looking for a perfect table for his family. Overheard :
Tourist : “No no no. This spot is too windy. Can I get another seat over there?”
Waiter : “My friend can be a wind blocker for you, sir”
… I can’t stand but laughed out loud.
Then we sat there and chatted for hours, enjoying our meals and the cold summer breeze at night. We were so lucky to find such an event.
Look what I found! A giant kite 😀
Overall, I do love what Tandjung Sari Hotel has offered. It’s like… the first time I attended and experienced such a dinner. It was lovely, indeed! Can’t wait for another one 🙂

Looks interesting, Sharon. Is that a regular event conducted by the hotel or it is just a one time event?
It is! 🙂 I found that it’s a weekly event but I’m not so sure.
