Art:1 New Museum and Art Space

We just had a hard time deciding what to do on Sunday! It was just after breakfast (around 10 a.m, I guess) and going to a movie didn’t sound interesting to me. Besides, Fred just had his movie time with his cousins the night before. I thought spending sometime in a museum might be a good idea. And since I had no clue at all about what’s currently happening in the city, I checked out JKTGO.COM and found out about this museum, ART:1 New Museum & Art Space!

Lucky that it’s not far from where we had our breakfast. It’s just 30 mins away! Weehee!

I found out through the museum booklet that Art:1 is formerly known as Mon Decor Gallery, and that it was established in 1983. I wasn’t even born then.

The new building of Art:1 itself was completed in 2011. It has this modern minimalist design with a total space of 4000 square meters. The building is dominated with white and grey color, with a little hint of red.

By the way, since there’s not much to say about this place (it’s an art museum after all, and the thing about museum is that you should go there and figure it out yourself), this post is going to be PHOTO HEAVY!

You know, Fred was busy “admiring” the art works while I found myself busy with my camera. Never mind, I’m pretty sure that I enjoyed it as much as he did.

Overall, I really enjoy my time here! Spent a couple of hours walking around and taking photos. I would definitely make a return visit, someday 🙂
