Chinese New Year is just one week away! It’s a joyful time for our family since most likely, we’ll gather at our grandma’s house for dinner on New Year’s Eve! You know, the Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner is somehow believed to be the most important meal of the year. Not sure why, though.
Normally, on Chinese New Year’s eve, people will go out to a Chinese Restaurant and order some dishes we don’t normally eat at home. It’s like… a treat. Or, they’ll just cook something fancy at home.
For those of you who’ll be celebrating Chinese New Year in Bandung, Hilton Bandung might be one of your option to spend your New Year’s Eve at! They’ll be having this Buffet Dinner on Feb 18th and also Feb 19th at Purnawarman Restaurant (just beside the hotel lobby).
There’ll be a lot of food to choose from, and yes, it’s a All You Can Eat kind of dinner, but here’s a sneak peek of the top 3 special menu!
Yee Sang
Yee Sang (or Yusheng) is a traditional dish which is also a symbol of good luck, prosperity, health, and all other good things. It usually consists of raw fish, like salmon, with shredded veggies and some also sauces for seasoning.
The way we eat it is quite unique since we’ll all stand around the dining table and toss the veggies high in the air, seven times, while shouting “Loh Hey!”.
Roast Duck
There will always be a special spot in my belly for roast duck. I mean, that thin layer of crispy duck skin with its juicy meat? Who can even resist?

Cereal Butter Prawns
This was my favorite among all! Well, the combination of cereal (yes, that breakfast cereal) with prawns might sounds odd, but trust me, it has this sweet, savory and crunchy kind of taste. And besides, you can really taste the butter and the garlic at once. I can’t stop digging for some more!
Those are just some of they CNY menu, fellas. There are still a lot more foods to choose from.
So… ready to welcome the year of Sheep? I AM BEYOND EXCITED!!

Interesting blog. One thing missing from the foodie reports I’ve read so far, is the restaurant halal? I often want restaurants serving pork, but with no info, it’s difficult to tell. Also, some of your reports don’t have prices. I’d love more Bandung coverage!
